小功率雕刻機指的是雕刻電機功率較小的雕刻機（一般 70-220W），由于其硅酸鈣雕刻電機功率較小，每次只能應用于切削面較少的精細加工。比如：胸牌、沙盤模型、工藝品表面加工等。這類雕刻機無法進行大功率雕刻和切割。大功率雕刻機是指雕刻電機功率在 700W以上的雕刻機。這類雕刻機不僅可以進行小功率雕刻，還可以進行大功率雕刻。比如：制作水晶字、各類廣告標牌、硅酸鈣板纖維水泥板板材的不規(guī)則下料成型、人造石材的加工等。因為其功率大，所以一次可以切下 30mm厚的纖維水泥板雕刻機或者用成型刀進行大功率成型硅酸鈣板雕刻機。
